Exercising And Eating Right….can’t Lose Weight!!!!!?

4 Comments 28 January 2012

For the New Year, I kept my resolution of getting back into shape. I got married two years ago and went from 130 lbs. to 155 in the past two years. I have been exercising 30 minutes a day/5 days a week and eating low fat healthy foods. I am trying so hard, but I have only lost a measly two pounds. Any ideas why I can’t seem to lose weight? Some people have remarked that it looks like I am losing weight, but I don’t seem to see any difference. Advice anyone for ways to jump start my weight loss?

The amount you eat is going to be important, whether its healthy or not the amount has its importance. But get away from any kind of total amount of calories and focus on meal to meal, every meal focus on eating until your satisfied rather than full. Keep the table sugar intake down, why because it is a carb that can easily raise up your total amount of carbs. Plus its a quick carb which gives you a little energy spike then hard crash and its chemical compound is not so good in helping lose weight. In the 30 minuites you exercise try to make it as intense as you can, push yourself, if you need to drop that time down to 20 minuites just so you can push hard do it. That means if your a cardio person(which im guessing you are) tire yourself out a lot and change up speeds a lot. Check out high intensity interval training because that is basically what im telling you to do, it creates a very heavy post-exercise oxygen consumption where your body has to reach homeostasis again and therefor metabolises long after you leave the gym to restore your heart rate back, get back to proper ventalition, balance hormones etc…
My other suggestion is replace the scale with a measuring tape, why because scales can first of all stop working accuratly and over or under read for EVERYTHING. Secondly your weight changes throughout the day so first of all if your not weighing yourself at consistent times(such as when you wake up because you know your stomach is empty and water retention is always the same) it can definatly fool you. As for your diet because you want to kick start your weight loss drink green tea every morning, eat spicy food/pepper if you like spice and eat a lot of berries. Why because green tea helps with the metabolism, spicy food helps with the metabolism and potentially with the breaking down of fat through certain hormones and berries have plenty of antioxidants and vitamins. Get in a lot of omega 3 fatty acids as well.
Omega 3 fatty acids are one of the few types of fats that are good for you, its actually essential to your health and helps with weight loss. Omega 3′s are found in eggs, certain cooking oils and seafood but there are also fish oil suppliments. Omega 3′s have a number of health benefits and things they can do for you and many people take them and will say that they notice no difference but they just do it becuase its backed with a lot of research. You likely won’t notice much from just taking in more omega 3 because the best weight loss linked fact about omega 3 is it helps with insulin sensitivity so you handle insulin better in the body. Insulin is a fat linked hormone that can promote fat storage and insulin is released whenever you eat carbs(raises your blood sugar). When you are not very insulin sensitive(as most of North America is NOT) one thing that could happen when your blood sugar rises is your body puts out a massive amount of insulin as an overkill because your cells are not sensitive to absorbing the insulin to get your blood sugar back to normal.
Start there, whatever i said that your not doing, when you do it should help you out more. At least to help kick start your weight loss. Things that were very specific like green tea is specifically to KICK START your weight loss by drinking green tea you won’t directly lose weight but it will help you when you combine it with what you are already doing.

You have to have a sufficent level of protein, cut back on sodium and sugar counts, and make sure you eat 4 pieces of fruit and drink 64 oz of water each day, and you have to have something to motivate you.
About 15 years ago, after I quit smoking, I went to Weight Watchers, and had a goal to lose 20-25 pounds. The first night a was there I saw this portly guy who had a butt about 3 feet wide, and I told myself I never want to look like that. Well, whenever I went out to eat and was ready to order, I thought of that guy, and I didn’t order and alcohol, or sodium or sugar content foods, and had no desert.
I lost 56 pounds in 6 months, and I have that guy to thank for it, and I don’t even know who he is.

Well, there’s only a few things that can be wrong. Either its you diet, your workout routine or its a combination of the two. Instead of only watching your fat intake, watch you carbohydrate & protein intake aswell. Many people think just because fat is called ”fat” that means that it makes you ”fat”, when really it’s Carbohydrates witch essentially make you gain weight. Protein is also important because it helps slow down digestion of any carbs you just ate. witch in turn reduces the amount of insulin that is released into your body with tells your body to store fat or burn fat. So what my suggestion is tighten up on your diet & do cardio 2-3times a week and you should see a difference.

how much are you eating? How tall are you? How old are you? Maybe you need more strength training. Maybe you have lost fat and replaced it with muscle. Try measuring your self instead of weighing in. If you only lost 2 pounds but you look different enough for people to be able to tell something has to have changed.
